
New Delhi, March 12: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to embark on a two-day visit to Assam starting March 13. In light of the upcoming assembly elections, he is expected to announce significant initiatives for the residents of Assam. This visit will feature the launch and foundation stone laying of several key projects, with an investment of approximately ₹10,000 crore in development initiatives for the state.
According to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, the Prime Minister will participate in various events in Guwahati, Kokrajhar, and Silchar, addressing public gatherings. The Assam government asserts that these projects will enhance the state’s infrastructure and create new employment opportunities. A notable event during this visit will be the distribution of land rights certificates to tea garden workers, many of whom have awaited formal ownership for nearly 200 years.
Furthermore, on March 13, during a program in Guwahati, the Prime Minister will release the next installment of the PM Kisan scheme. He will also inform the public about the NDA government’s development plans while addressing gatherings across different regions of the state.
CM Sarma mentioned, “The Prime Minister will dedicate the 150 MW Kopili Hydroelectric Project to the nation, which has been completed by the state government. He will also dedicate projects worth around ₹10,000 crore from Guwahati.”
On March 14, at 11 AM, he will be in Silchar to lay the foundation stone for the Silchar-Shillong-Guwahati Express Highway, which is estimated to cost ₹22,000 crore, before departing for Kolkata after dedicating additional projects to the nation.
Additionally, on March 15, Amit Shah will visit Assam. He is scheduled to inaugurate the Pragjyotishpur Medical College at around 10 AM and later participate in the BJP’s ‘Yuva Sankalp Samavesh’ in Guwahati. The Prime Minister’s visit is deemed crucial for Assam’s development and political landscape.
