Ekta Nagar, September 21 (Daily Kiran) : President Droupadi Murmu landed in Ekta Nagar on the evening of September 21, ahead of her participation in the 72nd National Film Awards ceremony scheduled for September 22.
Upon her arrival in Gujarat’s Narmada district, she was greeted at the airport by Governor Acharya Devvrat, Protocol Minister Praful Pansheria, Bharuch MP Mansukhbhai Vasava, Nandod MLA Dr. Darshanben Deshmukh, and other officials.
As the chief guest, President Murmu will present awards to winners across various categories during the ceremony. This marks the first time the National Film Awards will be held in Ekta Nagar, attracting notable personalities from different fields, including prominent figures from the film industry and special invitees.
Joining the President at the event will be Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav, and several renowned Bollywood and South Indian cinema celebrities.
The main ceremony, lasting approximately 75 minutes, will see winners receive their awards and certificates. Following this, President Murmu will address the attendees. In the evening, a cultural program will take place along the banks of the Narmada River, complemented by a special laser and light show at the Statue of Unity, which is expected to be a highlight for guests.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to savor traditional Gujarati cuisine. Notably, “Article 370” is set to win the award for Best Feature Film, while “Shreekant” will be recognized as the Best Hindi Film. Yami Gautam, Mammootty, and Kartik Aaryan are among those honored in the main acting categories. Additionally, Randeep Hooda will receive the Best Debut Director award for “Swatantrya Veer Savarkar.”
A large German aluminum dome, capable of accommodating around 1,000 guests, has been erected near the Statue of Unity for the ceremony. This waterproof and air-conditioned structure features modern lighting and sound systems, along with an impressive stage setup.
