Pranav Desai secures a bronze medal in the mens 100m T64 event at the Asian Para Games 2026, marking a significant achievement for India.

Nagoya, October 21 (Daily Kiran) : Pranav Desai has made headlines at the Asian Para Games 2026 in Nagoya, clinching a bronze medal in the men’s 100-meter T64 event with a time of 11.96 seconds. This achievement comes after he finished fourth in the same event at the 2022 Asian Para Games, where he clocked 11.91 seconds. Despite a slight time difference, Desai improved his ranking by one position.
The T64 classification is designed for athletes with lower limb impairments who compete using prosthetics. This category includes those with limb deficiencies or discrepancies in leg length.
Hailing from Thane, Maharashtra, Pranav was born without a right leg below the knee due to amputation. He has been participating in para sports since 2017 and specializes in T64 sprint events, including the 100 and 200 meters. Through hard work, discipline, and determination, Pranav continues to break barriers and represents India with pride.
In addition to Desai’s success, India showcased remarkable performances in para athletics at the Asian Para Games. Dilip Gavit Mahadu won a gold medal in the men’s 100m T47 event, while Mohammad Basil Morsingnakathi secured a silver medal. Gavit Mahadu clocked an impressive 10.69 seconds to earn gold, and Basil set a new games record with his silver medal time of 10.72 seconds.
Both athletes repeated their strong performances from the 2026 Commonwealth Games, where Gavit Mahadu also won gold in the men’s 100m T47 event, and Basil Morsingnakathi contributed to India’s success with a silver medal.
