New Delhi, August 6: Indian Union Education Minister Prahlad Joshi held a bilateral meeting with South African education ministers on Thursday. The discussions focused on enhancing collaboration in education, skill development, research, innovation, and digital learning.
In a post on the social media platform ‘X’, Joshi stated, “I had a bilateral meeting with South Africa’s Basic Education Minister, Angie Motshekga, and Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Training, Dr. Nomusa Dubey-Nqub.” The primary focus of our discussions was to strengthen cooperation in primary and higher education, skill development, research, innovation, and digital education.
The minister highlighted that they explored opportunities to enhance academic exchanges and shared insights from India’s successful initiatives, such as Nipun Bharat, Parakh, and Samarth.
Additionally, they discussed the ongoing education-related agreements between the two countries, aiming to expedite their completion. The goal is to deepen educational collaboration and benefit future generations in both nations.
During the BRICS Education Senior Officials meeting, Joshi also met with Indonesia’s Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, Brian Yuliarto, and Iran’s Acting Minister of Science, Research, and Technology, Professor Masoud Shams-Bakhsh.
In another post on ‘X’, Joshi mentioned, “I had a bilateral meeting with Indonesia’s Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, Brian Yuliarto, during the BRICS Education Ministers’ meeting. We discussed enhancing cooperation in higher education, research, innovation, and academic exchanges between India and Indonesia.”
Joshi welcomed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the IIT Madras Global Research Foundation and Indonesia’s Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology. This agreement aims to strengthen collaboration in research, innovation, and talent development. He expressed confidence that this partnership would create new opportunities in education, innovation, and academic excellence, benefiting students, teachers, and researchers from both countries.
Joshi also shared details of his meeting with Iran’s Acting Minister of Science, Research, and Technology, Professor Masoud Shams-Bakhsh, during the 13th BRICS Education Ministers’ meeting held in Bhubaneswar. He noted the centuries-old civilizational ties between the two nations, presenting an excellent opportunity to forge a modern and robust partnership in education, research, technology, and innovation.
He expressed eagerness to strengthen ties between institutions in both countries, enhance academic and research collaboration, create more opportunities for students and researchers, and deepen knowledge-based partnerships through digital education.
“I believe we can open new avenues of cooperation that will empower our youth and promote innovation-driven development, benefiting both India and Iran,” he concluded.
