Pollard Fined 15% of Match Fee for Using Abusive Language

Mumbai, May 15: Kieron Pollard, the batting coach of the Mumbai Indians, has been fined 15% of his match fee. This penalty comes after he was found guilty of violating the IPL Code of Conduct during the match against Punjab Kings (PBKS).

In addition to the fine, Pollard received one demerit point. The incident occurred during the 19th over of Mumbai’s innings when Pollard was seen arguing with the fourth umpire. During this confrontation, he used abusive language directed at the umpire. Pollard violated Article 2.3 of the IPL Code of Conduct, which pertains to the use of abusive language against players and team officials during a match.

The IPL released a statement on Friday, stating, “Kieron Pollard has been fined 15% of his match fee for breaching Level 1 of the IPL Code of Conduct for Players and Team Officials, along with receiving a demerit point. Pollard was found guilty of violating Article 2.3 of the IPL Code of Conduct, which relates to the use of abusive language during a match. This incident took place during the 19th over of the second innings when Pollard used abusive language towards the fourth umpire. Pollard has accepted the penalty imposed by match referee Pankaj Dharmani.”

In the match held on Thursday at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamshala, the Mumbai Indians delivered an impressive performance, defeating the Punjab Kings by six wickets. Batting first, PBKS scored 200 runs for the loss of eight wickets in their 20 overs, with Prabhsimran Singh contributing a solid 57 runs. However, MI successfully chased down the target of 201 runs, thanks to a brilliant unbeaten 75 runs off just 33 balls by Tilak Varma.
