Political Tensions Rise Over ₹2500 Modi Guarantee for Women in Delhi

New Delhi, March 8: The promise to provide ₹2500 to women in Delhi has sparked political controversy, with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) targeting the government.

Delhi State President Saurabh Bhardwaj accused the BJP of failing to fulfill its commitment to transfer ₹2500 to every woman’s account, a pledge made before the Delhi Assembly elections. He pointed out that a year has passed since the announcement, and with March 8, 2026 approaching, the funds have yet to be deposited.

Bhardwaj stated that AAP would question the BJP on the status of this guarantee during their discussions on Sunday.

He further alleged that the government is recruiting civil defense personnel in plain clothes to gather crowds for Prime Minister Modi’s rally. According to Bhardwaj, a notice has been sent to civil defense staff, instructing both male and female personnel from all divisions in the eastern district to report to the DM office at 6 AM on March 8.

He claimed these employees were promised transportation and refreshments, along with instructions to dress casually.

Bhardwaj also criticized Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva, suggesting that civil defense workers are being lured to the rally with promises of buses, snacks, and drinks.

He remarked that if the BJP’s policies were satisfactory to the public, there would be no need to resort to such measures. He questioned Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, noting the large tents being erected but with very few attendees visible.

Bhardwaj alleged that the BJP is struggling to attract crowds to its events, leading to attempts to gather people under various program names.

He concluded by stating that if the BJP had delivered on its promise of ₹2500 to women, they would have attended the rally in large numbers. AAP will continue to raise questions on this issue and demand accountability from the government.
