New Delhi, September 27 (Daily Kiran) : Central Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju has strongly refuted comments made by Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha, regarding the Election Commission. Speaking on Sunday, Rijiju emphasized that Gandhi’s statements could send a misleading message to society.
Several leaders from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) joined Rijiju in condemning Gandhi’s remarks. BJP leader Narottam Mishra pointed out that Gandhi is merely trying to salvage his reputation after suffering losses in 90 elections. He criticized Gandhi’s inconsistent claims, ranging from hydrogen bombs to allegations of vote theft, questioning the credibility of his press conference.
In a press conference held on September 24, Gandhi launched a scathing attack on the Election Commission and the central government. He alleged that while there is a wave of anti-incumbency against Congress and regional parties, such sentiments seem absent regarding the BJP.
Gandhi claimed widespread electoral fraud in the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha and several assembly elections. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sahi expressed disappointment that Congress, having lost over 100 elections, is now resorting to what he termed “anti-national behavior” under Gandhi’s leadership.
Sahi asserted that Gandhi’s actions are part of a deliberate strategy to undermine the country’s constitutional institutions and tarnish India’s image through deception. He noted that a recent joint press conference by Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and his fellow commissioners demonstrated unity within the commission, countering Congress’s claims as baseless.
BJP national media in-charge Aashi Usha Agarwal remarked that Gandhi consistently seeks opportunities to discredit the nation and its constitutional bodies.
Tensions continue to rise as the political landscape heats up ahead of the crucial elections.
