BJP Demands Apology from Congress Over Misleading Statements on Election Commission
BJPs Aditya Sahu accuses Congress of spreading confusion about the Election Commission and demands an apology for misleading claims.

Ranchi, September 27 (Daily Kiran) : Aditya Sahu, the president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Jharkhand, has accused the Congress party and other opposition groups of spreading confusion regarding the Election Commission and other constitutional bodies. Speaking at a press conference in Ranchi, Sahu pointed to an official statement released by the Election Commission on September 26, which clarified that the decisions related to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) were made unanimously by all three election commissioners.
Sahu stated that the Congress is attempting to mislead the public by questioning the integrity of constitutional institutions. He emphasized that the joint statement from the election commissioners dismantled the fabricated narratives being propagated by the Congress.
He further explained that the original order for the nationwide SIR, issued on June 24, 2025, and the subsequent schedules for various states and Union Territories were approved unanimously by the Commission. The statement from the Election Commission reiterated that the SIR order was upheld by the Supreme Court’s decision on May 27, 2026.
Addressing allegations from the opposition regarding disagreements within the Commission, Sahu clarified that while discussions and suggestions are part of institutional processes, final decisions are made by consensus. He dismissed the opposition’s claims regarding Form-6, stating that confusion was being generated about its use during the SIR process.
The Election Commission also noted that the arrangements made in Form-6 concerning the SIR had been upheld by the Supreme Court. Sahu highlighted the Commission’s commitment to including eligible citizens in the electoral rolls and mentioned ongoing efforts to reach out to underserved voters.
He accused the Congress of questioning the Election Commission, electronic voting machines (EVMs), and other constitutional bodies whenever they face electoral defeats. Citing previous statements from Rahul Gandhi, Sahu called on Congress leadership to respect the credibility of constitutional institutions and provide clarification on their allegations. He demanded an unconditional apology from the Congress for their baseless claims against these institutions.
