Police Uncover Terror Funding Module in Shopian, Arrest Ten Suspects

In a major operation, Jammu and Kashmir police arrested ten suspects linked to a terror funding module in Shopian.

Shopian, October 30 (Daily Kiran) : Authorities in Jammu and Kashmir have made significant strides in combating terrorism by dismantling a terror funding module in Shopian. On Friday, police arrested ten individuals suspected of being involved in financing terrorist activities linked to prisons.

The operation was part of an extensive investigation into suspicious financial networks associated with terrorist activities. Authorities analyzed various payment platforms, uncovering multiple layers of financial transactions. This investigation revealed connections between incarcerated terrorists and their associates involved in funding operations.

Police have filed a First Information Report (FIR) at the Shopian police station under relevant legal provisions. The arrested suspects include Owais Shafi Naiku, Tajamul Ahmad Shah, Moiz Iqbal, Imdad Yousuf Gani, Sakib Zahoor Wani, Amir Ahmad Gani, Firdous Thokar, Liaqat Nazir Lone, Mohammad Hanif, and Kaju.

Initial findings indicate that the suspects were covertly raising funds from the public and channeling these resources through established financial means to support the activities of Lashkar-e-Taiba. Allegations suggest that these funds were used to provide logistical support, including smartphones, for terrorist operations.

The police are continuing their investigation to uncover the broader network associated with this module, probing deeper into financial connections and identifying additional individuals involved. More arrests are anticipated as the inquiry progresses.

This operation underscores the Jammu and Kashmir police’s ongoing commitment to collaborating with security agencies to dismantle terror-support networks, disrupt illegal financial channels, and maintain peace and security throughout the union territory.
