Lawyer Arrested in Bihar for Alleged AK-47 Trafficking and Arms Supply

A lawyer was arrested in Bihar for his involvement in an AK-47 trafficking case during a midnight operation by the NIA.

Vaishali, October 30 (Daily Kiran) : The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested a lawyer in Hajipur, Vaishali district, Bihar, during a midnight operation on October 30. This arrest is part of an ongoing investigation into an arms trafficking network involving sophisticated weapons, including AK-47s. The local police confirmed the arrest.

The individual, identified as Sandeep Kumar Singh, also known as Chhotu Lal, practices law at the Patna High Court. NIA sources stated that he was apprehended around 1 a.m. on the main road in Johari Bazaar, where he was reportedly waiting for a vehicle to assist him in leaving the area.

NIA agents, already present nearby, took him into custody. They also seized a car at the scene, which was later handed over to the local municipal police.

This arrest is linked to a broader NIA investigation into the illegal trafficking, purchase, and supply of firearms, including AK-47s. The agency is probing the sourcing and distribution networks involved, as well as the potential roles of other individuals.

Singh had previously come under the agency’s scrutiny. During an earlier raid at his residence on SDO Road, NIA operatives allegedly recovered an illegal 9 mm pistol. Since then, they have been monitoring his activities closely.

Sources indicated that Singh may have anticipated his arrest, as he left his home late at night before reaching Johari Bazaar. He was reportedly waiting for a vehicle when the NIA team intercepted him.

The operation caused a stir among local residents, and crowds gathered at the scene as news of the arrest spread. The NIA has detained Singh for questioning as part of its investigation into the alleged arms trafficking network.

Investigators are working to establish the supply chain and identify other individuals involved in the operation, aiming to clarify their respective roles.
