Mumbai, May 16: In a significant operation, police in Etah and Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh, have arrested three criminals during encounters. The suspects were found in possession of illegal firearms.
Late at night, while conducting vehicle checks on Dhauali Road in the Jaitra area of Etah, police engaged in a shootout with the criminals. The suspects attempted to flee and opened fire. In the exchange, one criminal was injured and has since been hospitalized. Authorities recovered illegal weapons, cash, and a motorcycle from the scene. These individuals are linked to several cases of theft and robbery in the district.
CO Rajesh Kumar Singh stated, “On May 15, while checking vehicles in the Jaitra area, two motorcyclists were spotted approaching the police team. When signaled to stop, they accelerated instead. Upon being halted, they fired at the police, who returned fire, injuring one of the motorcyclists in the leg.”
Both suspects were apprehended at the scene. The injured criminal, Armaan, hails from the Kurawali area of Mainpuri, while the other, Shakeel, is also from Mainpuri.
According to officials, Armaan confessed to stealing jewelry from a woman in the Jasratpur area with an accomplice named Rafiq. He also attempted to snatch a bag from another woman in Jaitra town. The injured Armaan has been sent to the hospital for treatment, and further legal action is underway against both suspects.
In Bulandshahr, another encounter occurred late at night on Gurawali Road, where police clashed with a notorious criminal. Police officials reported that the suspect was shot in the leg during the encounter and was subsequently arrested. Authorities recovered an illegal firearm, shell casings, and live cartridges from the injured suspect. The arrested individual, Shaukendra, has eight serious cases registered against him, including charges of gangster activity, robbery, POCSO, and violations of the Arms Act.
