Police Capture Notorious Kidnapper in Amethi Encounter

New Delhi, March 12: In a significant operation, police in Amethi, Uttar Pradesh, achieved a major breakthrough early Thursday morning. During an operation named ‘Chakravyuh,’ authorities apprehended a wanted criminal, Islam alias Machhar, who had a bounty of ₹50,000 on his head for his involvement in a kidnapping and ransom case. The suspect sustained a gunshot wound to his leg during the encounter and was subsequently taken to the hospital for treatment.

The incident occurred around 2:45 AM when the officer in charge of the Musafirkhana police station was conducting a checking operation in the area as part of the ongoing ‘Chakravyuh’ initiative. Police received a tip-off that the wanted criminal was passing through the Isouli Road.

Upon receiving this information, the police team swiftly set up a blockade on Isouli Road. Shortly thereafter, the suspect arrived at the scene. When the police signaled him to stop, he attempted to flee. Cornered by the police, the suspect opened fire with the intent to harm.

The police team, reacting to the sudden gunfire, returned fire in self-defense. The suspect was shot in the leg, causing him to fall to the ground. The police then arrested him on the spot and immediately transported him to the hospital for medical care.

Additional Superintendent of Police Gyanendra Kumar Singh confirmed that the arrested individual had been evading capture for a considerable time in connection with the kidnapping and ransom case. The Amethi police had announced a reward of ₹50,000 for information leading to his arrest.

According to police reports, on February 10, the suspect, along with accomplices, kidnapped a man named Raman Agrahari from the highway and extorted ransom from him. The suspect has now been taken into custody, and an FIR has been registered at the Musafirkhana police station. Legal proceedings are underway.
