PM Surya Ghar Scheme Brings Relief to Chhattisgarh Residents with Zero Electricity Bills

Bhilai, March 20: Amid rising electricity bills and environmental concerns, the PM Surya Ghar Scheme is proving to be a significant source of relief and savings for residents in Chhattisgarh. This initiative allows households and institutions to install solar systems, enabling consumers to not only eliminate their electricity bills but also accumulate surplus energy. Beneficiaries from Bhilai have shared their experiences, highlighting the scheme’s economic and environmental benefits.

Eshwar Sahu, a beneficiary who installed a solar system, reported that his monthly electricity bill used to range from ₹1,000 to ₹1,200. Upon learning about the PM Surya Ghar Scheme, he decided to proceed with the installation. Remarkably, he incurred no out-of-pocket expenses, as the entire cost was financed through a bank loan. Following the installation, his electricity bill has nearly dropped to zero, and he received a subsidy of ₹108,000 within a month.

Another beneficiary, Manish Kothari, stated that since installing the solar system under the scheme, his electricity bill has completely vanished, and he still has about 1,000 units of electricity credited to his account. He applied online and selected a vendor, who managed the entire process seamlessly.

Pradeep Jain shared that utilizing solar energy is a crucial step towards environmental conservation. He installed a 12-kilowatt solar plant at his hospital, resulting in a zero electricity bill. He emphasized that adopting solar energy reduces reliance on natural resources like coal and hydropower, leading to economic savings as well.

He also noted that in the past two years, the system has required minimal maintenance, needing only weekly dust cleaning. According to him, those with high electricity consumption should definitely consider benefiting from this scheme.
