Durg, March 15: The Bhilai Nagar Railway Station, located in Durg district of Chhattisgarh, has undergone significant modernization under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. This initiative aims to equip major railway stations across the country with modern facilities and enhance infrastructure for passengers. As part of this effort, extensive development work has been carried out at Bhilai Nagar Station, providing travelers with a more convenient and secure environment than before.
According to railway officials, several new amenities have been introduced as part of the station’s modernization. These include modern waiting lounges, improved and well-equipped platforms, new ticket counters, better seating arrangements, enhanced cleanliness measures, and organized parking facilities. Additionally, the station premises have been made more accessible and visually appealing, keeping passenger comfort in mind.
Officials believe these improvements will greatly benefit travelers and promote business, tourism, and rail connectivity in the region.
After the station’s modernization, both passengers and locals have expressed satisfaction with the new arrangements. One traveler noted that there are visible improvements compared to before. The parking facilities have been enhanced, and ticket counters have been established on both sides of the station, reducing the time needed to purchase tickets. Furthermore, the seating arrangements and waiting hall have become more comfortable.
Local resident Suresh Prasad mentioned that there has been a remarkable improvement in cleanliness at the station, and overall, the facilities have become better than before. Meanwhile, Ram Pratap stated that the station’s modernization would increase passenger numbers and provide greater convenience during travel.
Railway staff member Kajal Deshmukh reported that a new ticket counter has been set up, and the waiting hall has been significantly upgraded. For passenger convenience, ticket vending machines similar to ATMs have been installed, allowing people to easily obtain tickets. Additionally, air conditioning, improved waiting areas, and clean restrooms are now available. To enhance security, CCTV cameras have been installed throughout the station premises, and additional police personnel have been deployed.
Residents believe that alongside the station’s modernization, increasing the number of train stoppages here is also essential. Local resident Prakash Verma stated that while the facilities have improved significantly, there should be more train stoppages. He emphasized that if express trains were to stop here, passengers would not need to travel to other stations, directly benefiting the local community.
