New Delhi, August 15: Prime Minister Narendra Modi presented a clear and visionary plan for the future of India on the occasion of the 80th Independence Day. He introduced the mantra of “Saptadhara” or “Seven Powers” to elevate India’s development journey to new heights. This concept embodies future-oriented thinking and reflects India’s ambitious scale for the coming years, which will guide the nation’s progress, self-reliance, and global leadership.
The seven powers range from manufacturing to agriculture, innovation, defense, a green economy, and the global recognition of Indian culture, forming a strong foundation for a developed India.
The Seven Powers
1. Manufacturing Power: Establishing a complete domestic end-to-end value chain from design to components, focusing on zero-defect quality, cost efficiency, and global operations.
2. Agriculture and Food Processing: Creating an integrated supply chain from farm to export for millets, spices, and fruits, while moving towards chemical-free farming.
3. Technology and Innovation: Transitioning from the tech market to becoming a global innovation hub, leading in AI, quantum computing, space, robotics, DPI, and ‘Made-in-India’ 6G.
4. Gati Shakti: Developing a fast and seamless multimodal logistics system connecting cities, highways, railways, airports, and modern industrial seaports.
5. Defense Power: Achieving complete strategic self-reliance by leading in next-generation defense technologies such as drones, counter-drone systems, and hypersonics, while also exporting these innovations.
6. Green and Blue Economy: Promoting sustainable development through green hydrogen, renewable energy, and energy storage, while fully utilizing marine, coastal, and ocean resources.
7. India’s Soft Power: Elevating Indian culture, yoga, Ayurveda, and tourism on a global scale, while establishing leadership in gaming, VFX, animation, and the creative economy.
Prime Minister Modi urged every manufacturer, entrepreneur, and MSME to ensure that India’s identity in the global market is built on reliability and quality. He emphasized that there should be no compromise on quality, making it the mantra: “Quality, Quality, and Quality.” This will enhance India’s global brand value.
To transform India’s ambitions, the goal is to have 50 companies in the Fortune 500, a prominent Indian bank among major global banks, and an Indian pharma company among the world’s top five. Additionally, the aim includes establishing an Indian law or rating agency as a global leader, along with a consulting or accounting firm, and a technology company recognized among the world’s leading firms.
Campaign for a Drug-Free Youth
The Prime Minister also introduced the ‘Drug-Free Youth Campaign’ and appealed to every family to join this initiative to combat the issue of drug abuse that harms society.
India’s first digital census is currently underway. The Prime Minister urged families to sit together and provide accurate information about themselves, as this will aid in formulating better policies.
Both state and central governments are coming together for the next phase of reforms. Cooperative federalism and development are moving forward for a ‘Developed India.’
Empowering Women
The Prime Minister made a direct appeal to all political parties to respect women’s aspirations and collaborate in implementing one-third reservation for women in Parliament and state assemblies.
