PM Modi to Inaugurate Major Development Projects in Surat and Daman

New Delhi, June 4: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Surat in Gujarat and the Union Territory of Daman on Thursday. During this visit, he will inaugurate various development projects worth approximately ₹18,800 crores in Surat, dedicating them to the nation and laying the foundation for new initiatives. Following this, he will inaugurate projects worth around ₹2,970 crores in Daman.

The Prime Minister is scheduled to arrive in Hazira, Surat district, around 2:30 PM, where he will review ongoing industrial activities and infrastructure projects. At 4:15 PM, he will address a public gathering in Surat, dedicating projects exceeding ₹18,800 crores to the nation.

Among the key projects, he will dedicate Packages VI and VII of the Vadodara-Mumbai 8-lane access-controlled expressway. This expressway will enhance high-speed transport, logistics, and economic connectivity between Gujarat and Maharashtra. Additionally, he will lay the foundation for the four-laning of critical sections of NH-56, improving road connectivity in tribal areas and facilitating access to the ‘Statue of Unity.’

In Surat, a 200-bed ESIC hospital will also be inaugurated. This facility will provide modern healthcare services, including 24-hour emergency and trauma care. Other significant industrial and utility projects, such as the expansion of the electricity transmission network, a revamped electricity distribution plan in Valsad, and the Dahej PCPIR and Jambusar bulk drug park, will also be inaugurated and launched.

After the Surat program, the Prime Minister will head to Daman. At 6:15 PM, he will inaugurate the new terminal building at ‘Namo’ Airport. Immediately following this, the ‘Namo’ Hospital will be dedicated to the nation. In Daman, a total of ₹2,970 crores worth of projects will be inaugurated and dedicated, including projects worth approximately ₹1,340 crores. At 7:15 PM, he will lay the foundation for new projects worth ₹1,630 crores, which include an iconic bridge, the Daman Convention Center, and a NIFT campus.

The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation for four significant port projects in the Union Territory of Lakshadweep, amounting to ₹885 crores. These multi-purpose jetties, to be constructed on Kalapeni and Kadmat islands, will facilitate the berthing of large cruise and passenger ships, significantly boosting tourism, fishing, and the local economy.

All these projects aim to strengthen infrastructure in roads, healthcare, air connectivity, electricity, industrial development, and tourism. Special attention has been given to tribal areas, port infrastructure, and healthcare services. The Prime Minister will also address public gatherings at both locations. This visit is expected to give a new impetus to the development of Gujarat and Dadra and Nagar Haveli-Daman-Diu.
