PM Modi Sends Greetings for Festivals Celebrating Unity in Diversity

New Delhi, March 19: On the auspicious occasions of Hindu New Year, Chaitra Navratri, Ugadi, and Gudi Padwa, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his warm wishes to people across various states through letters, wishing them happiness and prosperity. In his messages, he emphasized the essence of Indian culture, tradition, and the spirit of new beginnings.

PM Modi congratulated the residents of Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Himachal Pradesh, and Delhi on the occasion of Chaitra Navratri and the Hindu New Year. He expressed, “Dear fellow citizens, on this holy occasion of the Indian New Year and Chaitra Navratri, I wish you and your family all the best.”

In his letter, PM Modi highlighted that the date of Chaitra Shukla Pratipada is a significant basis of India’s ancient and scientific calendar system. This day marks the beginning of the new Yuga Abda year 5128 and Vikram Samvat 2083, showcasing our cultural vibrancy that has persisted for thousands of years.

He elaborated on the significance of Chaitra Navratri, describing it as a nine-day festival symbolizing strength, devotion, sacrifice, and discipline. Many practitioners observe restraint and penance during this time. He noted that this festival also provides an opportunity to worship the nine different forms of Goddess Shakti.

Referring to the Upanishadic thought of ‘Eko’ham Bahusyām’, he stated that it inspires us to see the same divine in various forms. This mindset strengthens India’s identity as the ‘mother of democracy’ and reinforces unity in diversity. He prayed to Maa Adishakti for the welfare of all citizens.

Additionally, Prime Minister Modi sent greetings to the people of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana on the occasion of Ugadi. He stated that Ugadi symbolizes the arrival of spring and new beginnings.

In his message, he remarked that this time is filled with the new colors and joys of nature. The fragrance of flowers and the arrival of fresh fruits signal new energy and possibilities in life. He mentioned that for farmers, this period marks the start of a new agricultural cycle, which they embrace with hope and enthusiasm.

PM Modi emphasized that Ugadi teaches us to embrace every color of life. The sweet and bitter dishes prepared during this festival convey the message to face life’s challenges with courage and to accept success with gratitude. He wished that the new year brings health, happiness, and success to everyone.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister congratulated the people of Goa and Maharashtra on the occasion of Gudi Padwa. He stated that this festival symbolizes the beginning of the new year, along with victory, prosperity, and new hopes.

In his letter, he said, “This sacred festival is a time for new beginnings and fresh hopes. When the Gudi waves high, it becomes a symbol of victory, prosperity, and optimism.” He explained that Gudi Padwa holds deep cultural and historical significance and is celebrated as a victory of good over evil.

The Prime Minister noted that this festival is associated with the arrival of spring, symbolizing new life and energy. As India progresses towards development and self-reliance, such festivals become even more relevant. These traditions connect us to our roots and strengthen our identity.
