
New Delhi, February 22: Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation in the 131st episode of “Mann Ki Baat.” During the program, he discussed various topics, including the Magh Mela, agricultural products from Kerala and Karnataka, and the challenges faced by farmers.
Ahead of the Tamil Nadu assembly elections, PM Modi paid a heartfelt tribute to former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, recalling their significant conversations. Notably, February 24 marks the birth anniversary of the late leader and actress.
Jayalalithaa was a prominent figure in Tamil Nadu, known for elevating the film industry and empowering women. In his address, PM Modi reflected on their meetings, stating, “Amma Jayalalithaa was a beloved leader. February 24 is her birthday. The deep connection the people of Tamil Nadu had with her is still evident during my visits to the state. The mention of Amma Jayalalithaa brings smiles to the faces of the Tamil people. Her efforts to uplift mothers, sisters, and daughters in government were commendable.”
PM Modi also reminisced about his tenure as Chief Minister and how he and Jayalalithaa often discussed good governance. He recalled being invited to lunch by her during the Pongal festival.
He stated, “Every meeting and conversation with Jayalalithaa remains fresh in my memory. She attended both my oath-taking ceremonies in Gujarat in 2002 and 2012. During our time as Chief Ministers, we frequently exchanged ideas on good governance.” PM Modi concluded with a moving tribute, acknowledging her relentless efforts for the people of Tamil Nadu.
