PM Modi Releases 20th Instalment of PM-KISAN Scheme from Varanasi, ₹20,500 Crore Transferred to Farmers

Varanasi, August 2 (H.S.) — Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday gave a major gift to crores of farmers across the country from his parliamentary constituency, Varanasi. Addressing a public gathering in Banouli village of Sevapuri block, the Prime Minister released the 20th instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, transferring ₹20,500 crore directly into the bank accounts of 9.70 crore farmers.

From this instalment, 2.30 crore farmers in Uttar Pradesh benefited with a total of ₹4,600 crore. In Varanasi alone, the Prime Minister’s own constituency, ₹48 crore was transferred to the accounts of 2.21 lakh farmers. So far, over ₹850 crore has been transferred to the farmers of Varanasi through the previous 19 instalments.

Earlier, upon landing at the helipad near the venue, Prime Minister Modi was welcomed with a bouquet of flowers by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. CM Yogi had reached the stage in advance to inspect the arrangements at the venue and the podium. As soon as Prime Minister Modi arrived on stage, CM Yogi honoured him with a memento.

According to Joint Director of Agriculture Shailendra Kumar, under the PM-KISAN scheme, all eligible landholding farmer families receive an annual financial support of ₹6,000. This amount is paid in three equal instalments of ₹2,000 each.
