New Delhi, March 23: Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to the great revolutionaries Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, and Sukhdev on ‘Martyrs’ Day.’ He emphasized that their sacrifice will forever remain etched in the collective memory of the nation.
In a post on the social media platform ‘X,’ PM Modi stated, “Today, we respectfully honor the brave sons of Mother India—Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, and Sukhdev. Their sacrifice for the nation will always be remembered. Despite their young age, they displayed extraordinary courage and unwavering dedication to India’s freedom. Without being deterred by colonial rule, they chose the path of sacrifice, placing the nation above their own lives.”
He further added, “Their ideals of justice, patriotism, and fearless resistance continue to ignite the flame of inspiration in the hearts of countless Indians.”
On this occasion, PM Modi also shared a video message, noting, “Even after so many years, the tale of the immortal martyrs Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, and Sukhdev is on the lips of every child in the country. Their stories inspire us all to work tirelessly for our nation.”
PM Modi quoted the Bhagavad Gita, saying, “It is said that ‘weapons cannot cut the soul, nor can fire burn it.’ Those who sacrifice for the country attain immortality. They become flowers of inspiration, spreading their fragrance from generation to generation. Today, the nation pays homage to all the heroes who contributed to our freedom.”
Every year on March 23, ‘Martyrs’ Day’ is observed to remember the sacrifices of these three extraordinary revolutionaries, who were executed by the British on this date.
