Agar Malwa, September 19 (Daily Kiran) : In a heartbreaking incident in Agar Malwa, Madhya Pradesh, a car carrying pilgrims was swept away by floodwaters, resulting in the deaths of eight individuals, including three children. The group was visiting the Maa Baglamukhi temple in Nalheda when the tragedy struck.
The accident occurred as the driver attempted to cross a seasonal stream near the temple, unaware of the strong current. Unfortunately, the vehicle was quickly engulfed by the rushing water.
On Saturday morning, as the water receded, passersby spotted the submerged car and alerted the police. Rescue operations were promptly initiated, leading to the recovery of the bodies of all eight victims from inside the vehicle. The scene was chaotic as many people gathered to witness the aftermath of the disaster.
The Superintendent of Police for Agar Malwa confirmed that the deceased included three children, two women, and three men. However, the identities of the victims have not yet been established.
Initial reports suggest that seven of the deceased were residents of Odisha, who had rented the car to visit the temple. They had traveled from Ujjain for this pilgrimage.
In a related incident, a young woman was rescued from the Narmada River in Mandla after being swept away by the strong current. Fishermen on the scene spotted her and managed to pull her to safety, approximately 200 meters downstream. The police later found her bag, which contained documents that helped identify her as a resident of the Tikria police jurisdiction, and her family was notified.
