Rome, May 20: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has arrived in Italy as part of his five-nation tour. During this visit, he is expected to meet Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. Security measures have been implemented in advance for PM Modi’s stay in Rome. Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani welcomed him at Fiumicino Airport at 7:30 PM local time (11:30 PM IST).
This visit will involve significant institutional engagements with top government officials. According to a leading Italian news agency, Adnkronos, police have established a specialized security system tailored to the geography and characteristics of each location on the itinerary.
Security at Rome Airport has been heightened. PM Modi will be staying at the Anantara Hotel in Piazza della Repubblica, where law enforcement will conduct patrols. Additionally, special checks are being carried out.
Intelligence operations are already underway, with the Italian Special Operations Unit and postal police working to intercept signals and prevent potential issues.
Tomorrow, PM Modi’s first appointment will be a visit to the Quirinale Palace to meet President Sergio Mattarella. Following this, he and Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni will hold a summit at Villa Pamphili, a site under close surveillance.
