
New Delhi, April 9: Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal announced that he held significant virtual discussions with several world leaders to enhance bilateral relations and trade.
Goyal engaged in a virtual conversation with Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, the UAE’s Minister of Foreign Trade. He shared on social media platform X that they discussed strengthening India-UAE trade relations and expanding opportunities for deeper bilateral cooperation. Goyal expressed eagerness to elevate their strategic partnership to new heights.
He also conversed with Francisco Pérez Mackenna, the Foreign Minister of the Republic of Chile. Goyal noted that they discussed advancing their Free Trade Agreement (FTA) negotiations and exploring opportunities to further strengthen bilateral relations and trade. He expressed enthusiasm for deepening cooperation and finalizing a mutually beneficial agreement soon.
The central minister also held a virtual meeting with Jassim Mohammed Al-Budaiwi, the Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). They discussed enhancing India-GCC cooperation across various sectors and reaffirmed their shared commitment to boosting economic and strategic ties.
Additionally, Goyal had a successful virtual meeting with Osama Khalid Al-Budai, the Minister of Commerce and Industry of Kuwait. He mentioned that they exchanged ideas on expanding bilateral trade relations and deepening collaboration in key sectors.
During the launch of the India-USA Trade Facilitation Portal, Goyal addressed participants virtually. He described it as a visionary initiative that will enable direct engagement between Indian exporters and American importers, creating more opportunities to deepen their bilateral trade partnership.
Meanwhile, Goyal recently indicated that the government is preparing a new set of measures to assist Indian exporters in addressing disruptions in global trade due to ongoing conflicts in West Asia. He hinted that several decisions are currently under consideration across various ministries and are expected to be announced soon.
