New Delhi, March 14: Zimbabwean fast bowler Blessing Muzarabani has opted not to participate in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) after securing a contract with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Following this decision, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is contemplating legal action against Muzarabani.
According to reports, the PCB views Muzarabani’s choice as a breach of contract and is evaluating its legal options.
Muzarabani was signed by Islamabad United for 11 million Pakistani Rupees, replacing Shamar Joseph. However, after KKR included him in their squad, Muzarabani prioritized the IPL over the PSL. He is set to play for KKR in the upcoming IPL season.
This marks the second consecutive year where a player has chosen the IPL over an existing PSL contract. Last season, South African fast bowler Corbin Bosch made a similar decision after being selected by Peshawar Zalmi, later joining the IPL’s Mumbai Indians.
Muzarabani recently showcased impressive bowling in the T20 World Cup 2026, playing a crucial role in leading Zimbabwe to the Super 8 stage. He took 13 wickets, including four against Australia, which secured a victory for Zimbabwe in the group stage.
The schedules for the IPL and PSL are once again clashing. The IPL is set to commence on March 28, with the final match scheduled for March 31, while the PSL is proposed to run from March 26 to May 3.
