Sri Ganganagar, March 27: In a significant operation, police in Sri Ganganagar district of Rajasthan have arrested a young man involved in anti-national activities. The accused has been in contact with terrorist Shahzad Bhatti, based in Pakistan, for an extended period.
The arrested individual has been identified as Akashdeep, 19, son of Pira Singh, a resident of Kesarisinhpur, who was currently living in Chak Kera. According to Station House Officer Gurmel Singh Barad, Akashdeep was actively communicating with the terrorist through social media platforms like Instagram and WhatsApp.
The police investigation revealed that Akashdeep conducted reconnaissance of several sensitive and crowded locations on the instructions of the terrorist and sent videos to Pakistan in exchange for money.
Authorities seized a Realme mobile phone from the accused, which contained several pieces of evidence related to suspicious activities. The examination of the phone showed that Akashdeep had an Instagram account through which he exchanged voice chats and information between individuals in India and Pakistan. Additionally, there were indications of sharing information with numbers having the +92 code.
The investigation also uncovered that Akashdeep used artificial intelligence (AI) to create fake images with terrorist Shahzad Bhatti and posted them on social media. WhatsApp chats indicated that he contacted Pakistani numbers and received responses.
During interrogation, Akashdeep admitted to scouting several key locations, including Punjab, Rajasthan, Delhi, Chandigarh, and Ambala, at the behest of the terrorist. He sent videos of these locations via WhatsApp to Pakistan and shared information about routes to reach them.
Police suspect that the accused may be linked to RDX, IEDs, and other explosive materials recovered in Ambala, which were allegedly sent from Pakistan to India via drones. Currently, police are conducting intensive questioning of the accused and are on the lookout for others connected to this network.
