Karachi, April 26: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced a 15-member women’s team for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Zimbabwe. This series will take place from May 3 to May 9 and marks the inclusion of Momina Riasat in the squad for the first time. It is part of the ICC Women’s Championship cycle for 2025-2029.
All-rounder Fatima Sana will lead the team, aiming to improve Pakistan’s performance following their recent tour of South Africa, where they faced defeats in both the ODI and T20 series, losing 2-1.
The selected Pakistani team features a blend of experienced and new players, including Aliya Riaz, Ayesha Zafar, Diana Baig, and Sidra Amin. Wicketkeepers Muniba Ali and Nazia Alvi are also part of the squad, along with bowlers Nashra Sandhu, Rameen Shamim, and Tasmia Rubab.
Currently, Pakistan ranks fifth in the ICC Women’s Championship with two points. Earlier this year, they secured a victory in an ODI series against South Africa.
On the other hand, Zimbabwe will be touring Pakistan for the first time for a ‘white-ball’ series. The visiting team is set to arrive in Karachi at the end of April and will participate in a training camp before the ODI series.
The ODI matches between the Pakistan and Zimbabwe women’s teams are scheduled for May 3, 6, and 9, all to be held at the National Stadium in Karachi. Following the ODIs, three T20 matches will take place at the same venue on May 12, 14, and 15.
The squad for the ODI series includes: Fatima Sana (captain), Aliya Riaz, Ayesha Zafar, Diana Baig, Gul Firoza, Momina Riasat, Muniba Ali (wicketkeeper), Nazia Alvi (wicketkeeper), Nashra Sandhu, Natalia Parvez, Rameen Shamim, Sadaf Shamas, Sidra Amin, Syeda Aroob Shah, and Tasmia Rubab.
