AAPs Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal Accuses BJP of Disrespecting Punjabi Artists and Leaders

AAP MLA Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal criticizes BJP for disrespect towards Punjabi artists and leaders, highlighting recent incidents.

Chandigarh, October 22 (Daily Kiran) : Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal, a legislator from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Punjab, has launched a scathing criticism of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for what he describes as a consistent display of hatred towards Punjab and its people. Speaking on Thursday, he cited several incidents as examples of this disrespect, including the recent humiliation of renowned Punjabi singer Daler Mehndi, the cancellation of a concert by Diljit Dosanjh in Delhi, and the treatment of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann at the Delhi airport.

Dhaliwal emphasized that despite leading the government at the national level, the BJP has repeatedly exhibited a discriminatory attitude towards Punjabis and minority communities. He argued that the treatment of prominent Punjabi figures reflects the BJP’s narrow and divisive mindset, which he condemned.

In reference to a recent incident in Uttarakhand, Dhaliwal expressed outrage over how a BJP leader and a state minister insulted Daler Mehndi. He stressed that Mehndi has earned immense love and recognition worldwide, and disrespecting such a prominent artist reveals the BJP’s negative attitude towards Punjab and its culture.

He also addressed the issue concerning Diljit Dosanjh’s concert, originally scheduled for November 1. Dhaliwal stated that while the singer had obtained the necessary permissions, he was later asked to change the date due to historical events linked to that day. This, he questioned, raises concerns about whether Dosanjh’s Sikh identity and Punjabi heritage influenced the negative treatment he received.

Additionally, Dhaliwal condemned the treatment of Chief Minister Mann upon his return from France, where he was allegedly humiliated under the pretext of excess baggage. He pointed out that baggage weight is typically checked at the point of departure, suggesting that any issues should have been managed in France.

The way Mann was treated, Dhaliwal argued, raises serious concerns about the central government’s attitude toward a leader who consistently advocates for Punjab and its people.
