Srinagar, March 14: The Jammu and Kashmir Students Association announced on Saturday that over 70 Indian students, primarily from Jammu and Kashmir, are safely returning from Iran amidst a conflict-like situation. They are expected to arrive at Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi on Sunday morning via Armenia and Dubai.
Nasir Khuhami, the National Coordinator of the Association, stated that the students are traveling on FlyDubai flights departing from Zvartnots International Airport in Armenia. The flight includes more than 70 Indian students and other pilgrims, most of whom are Kashmiri students studying at various universities in Iran.
He explained that the journey is being made through connecting routes. The first flight departed from Yerevan to Dubai International Airport on March 14 at 13:25 (Armenia time) and is expected to arrive in Dubai at 17:00 (Dubai time).
From Dubai, the students will board FlyDubai flight FZ441, scheduled to leave at 05:05 (Dubai time) and is likely to reach Delhi around 09:55 (IST).
The Association reported that these students were stranded due to the deteriorating security situation and conflict-like conditions in Iran. Most of them are enrolled at the Urmia University of Medical Sciences, Tehran University of Medical Sciences, and other institutions in Iran.
Before boarding the flight, the students undertook a long journey by bus from various cities in Iran to reach Yerevan International Airport for the evacuation flight. Previously, the Indian Embassy in Tehran had relocated them to safer locations. Additionally, Kashmiri students in Kerman were sent to a secure city.
The Association noted that this operation was conducted with the assistance of the Ministry of External Affairs and the Indian Embassy in Tehran and Yerevan. To ensure the students’ safety and mitigate potential risks, the Ministry advised them not to share their exact locations or personal information on social media.
