Two suspects arrested in New Delhi for a jewelry theft, with stolen gold, silver, and cash recovered by police.

New Delhi, October 23 (Daily Kiran) : Delhi police have arrested two individuals in connection with a theft that occurred in the Wazirabad area. The arrests were made after a thorough investigation that tracked the suspects to Uttarakhand, where they were apprehended on Friday. Authorities recovered stolen gold and silver jewelry, cash, and burglary tools from the suspects.
The case began on October 10 when Sanjeev Bhomik, a resident of Wazirabad, filed a complaint reporting that unknown individuals had stolen jewelry and cash from his home. Following this, police registered a First Information Report (FIR) and launched an investigation.
Given the seriousness of the crime, a special team was formed to identify the culprits. The team meticulously analyzed CCTV footage from the crime scene and surrounding areas, revealing that two suspects had arrived on a white scooter. Local intelligence sources were activated, and a comprehensive investigation was initiated based on the CCTV evidence.
Hundreds of CCTV cameras were examined, leading the police to a residence in Bhajanpura, Delhi. During local inquiries, one suspect was identified as Sameer, also known as Saddam. Further investigation indicated that he had left Delhi for Shivpuri, Rishikesh, in Uttarakhand on the morning of October 14.
Using technical inputs and local intelligence, police conducted surveillance and located Sameer in Shivpuri on October 15. During questioning, he confessed to committing the crime with his accomplice Mujammil, also known as Monu, aged 26. Based on this information, police arrested Mujammil the same day in Bhajanpura, Delhi.
Following their leads, police recovered the stolen gold and silver jewelry, along with ₹42,670 in cash from the suspects’ homes. Both individuals admitted their involvement in the theft and disclosed that they had recently stolen jewelry from another house in the Hardev Nagar area.
The suspects revealed that after committing the theft, they hid the stolen items in their homes. They also confessed to stealing a scooter to facilitate their criminal activities, using it to navigate less populated areas to identify potential targets.
To evade capture and conceal their identities, the suspects had removed the original registration plate from the stolen scooter and replaced it with a fake one to mislead the police. The Delhi police are currently pursuing further actions in this case.
