Udaipur, 31 August 2025 (Kiran News): Hindustan Zinc, the world’s largest zinc producer and among the top five silver producers globally, is actively promoting nutrition and health at the grassroots level in Rajasthan. These initiatives are directly benefiting around 3.7 lakh women and children across the state. Through nearly 2,000 Nand Ghars, the company is driving significant change by providing nutrition, education, health facilities, and women empowerment opportunities in rural areas.

Community-Centric Approach: Nand Ghars and Mobile Health Vans

Under the Nutrition Month 2025 campaign, Hindustan Zinc has raised awareness about breastfeeding, malnutrition, anaemia, and balanced diets in its operational areas using four mobile health vans. These vans have been deployed in 110 villages, running awareness programmes at Anganwadi centres, schools, and community centres. The focus is on simple, local nutrition solutions, explained through the “Healthy Plate” model, to improve long-term health.

Nand Ghar, a flagship initiative of Anil Agarwal Foundation, are modernised Anganwadis built on four pillars—nutrition, education, health services, and women’s empowerment. Each Nand Ghar is equipped with digital learning tools, solar energy, clean drinking water, and basic health facilities, while also offering skill development opportunities for women. Across Hindustan Zinc’s operational areas, these Nand Ghars are helping children’s early development, improving maternal health, and empowering rural women, touching nearly 3.7 lakh lives.

Vedanta Zinc City Half Marathon: Fitness for a Purpose

Taking the message of nutrition and health beyond classrooms, the Vedanta Zinc City Half Marathon has become a unique platform connecting fitness with a social cause. Known as the most beautiful marathon in India, its first edition saw participation from over 5,000 runners worldwide—including a “Race with Champions” for specially-abled children and support for Nand Ghar’s “Run for Zero Hunger” campaign. The second edition, set for 21 September during Nutrition Month 2025, aims to further unite communities and spread awareness on malnutrition-free, healthy living.

Holistic Social Impact

Besides nutrition and childcare, Hindustan Zinc’s social initiatives cover women’s empowerment, sustainable livelihoods, quality education, accessible healthcare, and skill development. By FY2025, these programmes have brought positive change to over 23 lakh people in more than 2,300 villages. Hindustan Zinc ranks among India’s top 10 CSR investors, demonstrating how industry can drive inclusive and sustainable development at scale.
