Opposition Unity Worries BJP, Claims SP MP Avadhesh Prasad Ahead of 2027 Elections
SP MP Avadhesh Prasad asserts opposition unity threatens BJPs hold on power in Uttar Pradesh ahead of the 2027 elections.

New Delhi, October 30 (Daily Kiran) : The political landscape in India is heating up as the 2027 Uttar Pradesh assembly elections approach. Samajwadi Party MP Avadhesh Prasad recently criticized the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), asserting that the opposition is fully united and that this unity has left the BJP feeling anxious. He claimed that the public is disillusioned with the BJP’s governance and is eager for change.
Prasad dismissed the BJP’s hopes of winning a third consecutive term in Uttar Pradesh as mere fantasy. He highlighted promises made by Akhilesh Yadav, including a commitment to allocate more tickets to women candidates, while also addressing the upcoming India alliance rally scheduled for November 1 in Delhi.
Responding to allegations from the BJP regarding the opposition’s cohesiveness, Prasad stated that the opposition is united both inside and outside the legislature. He asserted that the BJP government is frightened by this solidarity and is at a loss on how to confront the situation. The upcoming rally on November 1 is expected to showcase this unity, indicating that not only the opposition but the entire nation is determined to remove the BJP from power.
Prasad also referenced recent MLC elections, accusing the BJP of electoral malpractice. He alleged that pressure was exerted on schools through officials, with threats of revoking their recognition. Despite these tactics, the BJP faced defeats in key constituencies such as Varanasi, Lucknow, Agra, and Allahabad. He claimed that the BJP manipulated results in Gorakhpur by coercing officials, further emphasizing that the public’s faith in the BJP is waning, while support for Akhilesh Yadav is growing.
In reaction to comments made by BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi, who labeled the opposition as “mental naxals,” Prasad noted that such statements reveal the BJP’s anxiety over the upcoming rally. He asserted that the event would be historic, sending a strong message of opposition unity, and dismissed the BJP’s accusations as baseless.
Regarding Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s announcement about implementing a Uniform Civil Code if the BJP retains power in Uttar Pradesh, Prasad called it a mere illusion. He predicted a complete overhaul of the BJP’s presence in the state during the 2027 elections, stating that even if the BJP were to secure 50 seats, it would be a significant event.
On the topic of increasing women’s participation in the upcoming assembly elections, Prasad reiterated that the Samajwadi Party will provide more opportunities for women, reflecting Akhilesh Yadav’s commitment to enhancing female representation.
Commenting on recent remarks by Kapil Sibal concerning the MLC elections, Prasad agreed, noting that the BJP’s losses in Modi’s constituency of Varanasi are indicative of a broader demand for change across the country.
Finally, Prasad addressed the decision not to ally with Swami Prasad Maurya’s party for the 2027 elections, emphasizing that Yadav has made it clear that there will be no collaboration with Maurya, given past experiences that did not yield positive results. He stated that this decision is in the best interest of the party and requires no further discussion.
