Opposition Leaders Respond to CM Yogis Remarks on Housing for the Poor
Opposition leaders criticize CM Yogis comments on housing for the poor, highlighting issues of land ownership and political rhetoric.

Lucknow, October 16 (Daily Kiran) : Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s recent comments regarding housing for the poor on land previously owned by criminals have sparked criticism from opposition leaders in Lucknow.
Congress leader Surendra Rajput pointed out that while the government has distributed keys to poor families, many are now facing eviction from these homes. He specifically mentioned housing built on land linked to notorious gangster Mukhtar Ansari, which was initially promised to the poor but has now been reclaimed. “This is not just empty rhetoric; legal actions should be taken,” Rajput stated, adding that the land in question was actually owned by the Jal Nigam.
In response to CM Yogi’s remarks about changing names, Rajput quipped, “If changing names could change outcomes, that would be something. The Chief Minister is known for renaming things, but it does not resolve real issues.”
Rajput also took aim at CM Yogi’s jibe at Rahul Gandhi, emphasizing that many, including Jawaharlal Nehru, faced imprisonment for their beliefs, unlike any leaders from the BJP.
Ashutosh Verma, a leader from the Samajwadi Party, expressed concern over the tone of the Chief Minister’s language, suggesting it should be more inspiring for the youth. “The Chief Minister’s remarks about violence and threats are unbecoming of a leader. This is not the future we want for our country and state,” he remarked.
Verma further challenged the BJP to clarify which members of the RSS had faced imprisonment, stating that those without a historical context should refrain from making such comments.
In a jab at Akhilesh Yadav, Uttar Pradesh government minister Dayashankar Singh suggested that Yadav should focus on becoming a legislator first, hinting at the upcoming electoral battle.
The ongoing political discourse reflects the tensions surrounding housing policies and leadership styles in Uttar Pradesh.
