Opposition Lacks Policy and Alternatives; Seat Increase in Parliament is Just Politics: Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy

Hyderabad, April 18: Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy has recently launched a sharp attack on the opposition regarding the proposal to increase the number of seats in Parliament. He stated that the government had presented an excellent formula aimed at enhancing representation in Parliament, but the opposition rejected it, doing an injustice to the nation.

He provided examples, proposing to increase Andhra Pradesh’s current 25 seats to 38, Karnataka’s 28 seats to 42, and Tamil Nadu’s 39 seats to 59. This move was seen as a significant step towards strengthening regional representation. Reddy accused DMK MPs in Tamil Nadu of displaying black clothes and flags in Parliament, labeling their actions as “foolish behavior” in opposition to the proposal.

Challenging the opposition parties, he asked them to present a better formula if they had one. Reddy mentioned that he had personally requested the opposition to submit a written proposal and offer their support, but they failed to do so. He criticized Congress and its allies for merely opposing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Prime Minister Narendra Modi without any solid policy or alternative plan.

Responding to political accusations regarding South India, Reddy dismissed claims that the BJP is dividing North and South India. He asserted that the BJP and NDA aim to ensure equal justice across all states and that the party is strengthening its position in South India. He refuted allegations from leaders like Rahul Gandhi, Revanth Reddy, and Asaduddin Owaisi, stating that the BJP will reach every village and street to communicate its policies.

Reddy targeted Congress, claiming that the party has lost its support in several states and is struggling to save its deposits in elections. He also noted that Prime Minister Modi has made it clear that if women become aware and stand against Congress, the party will face even greater opposition. In this context, he mentioned that the BJP and NDA will launch campaigns to engage with women across the country.

He highlighted that during the recent rail budget, approval was granted for seven major rail projects and a high-speed elevated corridor. These include high-speed corridors connecting Hyderabad to Pune, Bengaluru, and Chennai, with an investment proposal of approximately ₹1.5 lakh crore. He stated that these projects will provide new direction for development and connectivity in South India.

The Union Minister concluded by stating that the BJP is challenging dynastic politics in South India and is strengthening its roots, promising that the party will emerge even more empowered across the nation in the future. He urged the opposition to be accountable to the public and not to obstruct opportunities for development.
