Beijing, March 28: A recent report on the El Espanol website reveals that many Europeans do not consider the United States a friendly nation.
The report is titled “Trump Destroys the Atlantic Connection: Only One-Quarter of Europeans View the U.S. as a Friendly Country.”
According to the report, this conclusion stems from two surveys released in mid-February. One is a report written by the European Council on Foreign Relations, and the other is a public opinion survey conducted jointly by the British polling firm Public First and the American newspaper Politico.
The European Council report indicates that in Denmark, the UK, and Poland, 58%, 53%, and 47% of respondents, respectively, view the U.S. as a necessary partner rather than a reliable friend, expressing low expectations. In Spain, only 10% believe the U.S. is a friendly nation to the European Union.
Results from the Politico survey suggest that the U.S. is no longer seen as a guarantor of security for Europe. Analysts Erin Doherty and Chief Correspondent Nicholas Vinocur noted that the decline in America’s reputation has raised new doubts about its power on the global stage.
