Mumbai, April 27: Today, we are excited to explore the new OnePlus Pad 4, the company’s latest premium Android tablet, set to officially launch on April 30. We received the device ahead of time and are ready to share our first impressions through a quick unboxing.
The packaging of the OnePlus Pad 4 is simple, featuring the brand’s signature red and white color scheme. Inside, the tablet occupies minimal vertical space due to its slim 5.94mm profile. Most of the box’s height is taken up by the 80W fast charger and the accompanying cable, with little else included.
The OnePlus Pad 4 is primarily an iterative update from the OnePlus Pad 3. It replaces the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip with the new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. Additionally, it boasts a 30% larger 45,260mm² vapor chamber. The storage options remain the same at 256GB and 512GB, but now utilize UFS 4.1 instead of UFS 4.0. Battery capacity has also seen a slight increase, from 12,140mAh to 13,380mAh, and the display is approximately 100 nits brighter.
However, these upgrades are limited. Most features, including design, display, cameras, charging, connectivity, and speakers, are nearly identical to last year’s model. A notable downgrade is the memory options; the OnePlus Pad 4 offers only 8GB and 12GB LPDDR5X compared to the previous 12GB and 16GB options. This change is disappointing, especially given the device’s focus on performance and multitasking.
On the accessory front, OnePlus introduces the OnePlus Stylo Pro, a new stylus featuring two tips—one for writing and another for drawing. Additionally, the OnePlus Pad 4 Smart Keyboard has been redesigned. Unlike the split keyboard/kickstand design of the Pad 3, the new model is a single, laptop-style unit with a hinged design. Note that the pogo-pin contact patch has been relocated, making it incompatible with the older tablet.
Stay tuned for our comprehensive review of the OnePlus Pad 4 and its performance, coming next week.
