Colombo, February 5: In a thrilling T20 World Cup 2026 warm-up match, Oman secured a convincing victory against Zimbabwe by four wickets. The match took place at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo on Thursday. Zimbabwe batted first, scoring 187 runs after losing seven wickets.
The opening partnership between Brian Bennett and Brendan Taylor provided a solid foundation for Zimbabwe, amassing 86 runs in just 7.4 overs. Bennett scored 56 runs off 28 balls, hitting three sixes and seven fours, before being dismissed. Taylor contributed 26 runs from 20 balls before retiring out. However, Zimbabwe struggled after losing four wickets for just 94 runs.
Dion Myers then formed a crucial fifth-wicket partnership with Tashinga Musakanda, adding 43 runs. Myers scored 26 runs, while Musakanda remained unbeaten with 54 runs off 28 balls, featuring nine boundaries. For Oman, Sufyan Mahmood was the standout bowler, taking three wickets, while Nadeem Khan claimed two and Shah Faisal took one.
In response, Oman chased down the target in 19.2 overs. Aamir Kaleem and Jatinder Singh set the tone with a 28-run partnership in just 2.2 overs.
