Pakistani Army Accused of Enforced Disappearances in Balochistan; Bodies Discovered

Reports emerge of six civilians allegedly abducted by Pakistani forces in Balochistan, with four bodies recovered recently.

Quetta, October 25 (Daily Kiran) : In Quetta, reports have surfaced alleging that Pakistani security forces have abducted at least six civilians, including two drivers, in separate incidents across the Kech district of Balochistan. Local media has reported the recovery of four bodies, one of which belonged to a young man detained by security forces just days prior.

According to The Balochistan Post, 33-year-old driver Asad was taken from his home in Nokin Kohan on the night of October 21 by soldiers of the Pakistani army, and since then, his whereabouts have been unknown.

In another case, 41-year-old driver Afzal was abducted by Frontier Corps (FC) personnel around 3 a.m. on October 19 from his residence in Gwarkop’s Seri Kalag. His location has also remained a mystery.

Local sources indicate that amidst increasing operations, Pakistani forces conducted nighttime raids in the Gobard area of Mand, detaining several young men and taking them to undisclosed locations. Reports suggest that at approximately 2 a.m., security forces stormed the home of Shekhri Pir Muhammad, harassing women and children before abducting Sameer Nasir. They later raided another house, seizing cash and other valuables, and took Waseem, the son of Sattar, into custody. Additionally, two sons of Sawal Muhammad, Sagir and Zaheer, were also taken, with no information on their fates.

These allegations have arisen following similar complaints from Nushki residents, who accused FC personnel of mistreating detainees and confiscating their money. When questioned about the cash, the soldiers reportedly told them to “leave it to God.”

The Balochistan Post also reported that the body of Bilal Baloch, a resident of Kohad in the Tump tehsil, was discovered on Friday in the Hoshkabad area. This incident occurred four days after he was allegedly forcibly disappeared by Pakistani forces from Kohad market. Sources noted that he was taken during the same operation in which another resident, Adil Baloch, was also detained; Adil’s body has since been recovered.

In another incident, the body of a young man was found near the Talaar Hotel on the Pasni-Kulanch link road, where armed individuals had reportedly abducted him. Police sources revealed that a note with the name Rehan was discovered in his pocket, but his identity has yet to be confirmed.

In the Jhal Magsi district, the body of Irfan Ali Dinar was recovered from the Ghandawa tehsil, after he was kidnapped by armed men from the Khari Darahi area.

Additionally, the body of Muhammad Yunus, son of Muhammad Yusuf Gulamani, was found in the Khuzdar district, near the Khattan River, with the cause of death still unknown.

Tensions continue to rise in Balochistan as reports of enforced disappearances and human rights abuses persist.
