Chhattisgarhs Home Matches Shifted Due to NGT Clearance Issues
Chhattisgarhs Ranji Trophy matches against Andhra and Hyderabad have been moved due to lack of NGT clearance for the Raipur stadium.

New Delhi, October 25 (Daily Kiran) : Chhattisgarh’s upcoming home matches in the 2026-27 Ranji Trophy season have been relocated from the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur due to a lack of necessary clearance from the National Green Tribunal (NGT). The matches against Andhra and Hyderabad were originally scheduled to take place at the Raipur venue, but have now been moved.
The first match, set to start on Monday, will now be held at the DVR Ground in Mulapadu, near Vijayawada. This shift means that what was supposed to be a home game for Chhattisgarh will now be classified as an away match.
Additionally, the fourth-round match against Hyderabad has also been removed from Raipur, with plans to possibly host it in the opposing team’s city. An insider confirmed, “Yes, Chhattisgarh’s two consecutive home matches in the Ranji Trophy have been shifted from Raipur due to the NGT not granting permission for the events.”
In July, the tribunal had permitted Raipur to host three women’s T20 matches between India and Zimbabwe, which took place on October 16, 18, and 20. However, this approval came with a condition requiring a deposit of 2 million rupees to the Chhattisgarh Environment Conservation Board for groundwater recharge. Unfortunately, the tribunal has not yet approved the Ranji Trophy matches, with the next hearing scheduled for December 9.
The source added, “They granted special permission only for the recent women’s T20 matches. The Ranji Trophy matches could have also received approval, as all necessary conditions were met, but the NGT is demanding a substantial fee—around 2 million rupees per match. There are more matches scheduled in Chhattisgarh, so we will see how things unfold. While there are other grounds in the state, they do not match the standard of the Raipur stadium.”
So far, Chhattisgarh has struggled in their two away matches, drawing against Saurashtra and losing to Punjab in New Chandigarh. With just one point from these two games, Chhattisgarh currently sits seventh in their group and needs strong results to climb the points table.
