
Colombo, February 3 – In the fourth warm-up match of the T20 World Cup 2026, Oman created an upset by defeating Sri Lanka-A by 5 wickets.
On Tuesday at Colombo Cricket Club, Sri Lanka-A won the toss and chose to bat, scoring 145 runs for the loss of 9 wickets. The opening pair of Sineth Jayawardhane and Dulanith Sagera put on 23 runs in 2.4 overs. Sineth was dismissed after scoring 9 runs off 5 balls, while Dulanith contributed 20 runs from 14 deliveries.
After the first wicket fell, Sri Lanka-A lost 4 wickets by the time the score reached 49. Sahan Kosla then shared a 23-run partnership with Kavija Gamage. Kavija added 12 runs before being dismissed. Sahan further added 33 runs with Sachitha Jayathilake to take the team to a challenging total.
Vanuja Sahan scored 29 runs off 21 balls, including 1 six and 2 fours, before getting out. Lower down the order, Chamindu Wickramasinghe played a crucial unbeaten innings of 24 runs off 13 balls, hitting 3 boundaries. From the Oman bowling side, Shah Faisal, Shakeel Ahmed, and Jai Odedra took 2 wickets each, while Nadeem Khan claimed 1 wicket.
In response, Oman achieved the target in 18 overs. Aamir Kaleem and Hammad Mirza started with a 25-run partnership in 3.1 overs. Hammad was dismissed after scoring 5 runs, and soon after, Wasim Ali also got out for 2 runs.
Then Aamir joined Karan Sonawale to add 35 runs in 26 balls for the third wicket, steering the team closer to victory. Karan was dismissed after scoring 8 runs, but Aamir continued to hold the innings together. He shared a 35-run stand with Vinayak Shukla for the fifth wicket, bringing Oman near the win.
Aamir Kaleem scored a powerful 80 runs off 47 balls, including 3 sixes and 8 fours before getting out. Vinayak remained unbeaten on 39 runs from 24 balls, hitting 5 boundaries. From the Sri Lanka-A side, Vanuja Sahan took the most wickets with 3 for 16, while Kavija Gamage and Lahiru Samarakoon picked up 1 wicket each.
