Kathmandu, December 5 (Daily Kiran) – For the first time since the Jan-Ji protests, KP Sharma Oli, chairman of the CPN-UML, and Sher Bahadur Deuba, leader of the Nepali Congress, held a political discussion on Friday.

Oli arrived at Deuba’s temporary residence, where acting Congress chairman Purna Bahadur Khadka was already in talks with party leaders.

This was the first direct meeting between the two top leaders following the serious attack on Deuba during the Jan-Ji protests.

Acting chairman Khadka stated, “A meeting was held in Maharajganj involving Oli, Deuba, and other leaders.” The leaders also discussed forming an alliance to contest the House of Representatives elections scheduled for March 5, 2026.

After the meeting, Oli told reporters that he had come to Maharajganj to check on Deuba’s health. This marked their first meeting since the Jan-Ji movement that took place on September 8–9.

He added, “There had been no meetings after the political changes caused by the protests. I came to inquire about Congress President Deuba’s condition.” He also mentioned that they would review the current political scenario.

Meanwhile, with the Supreme Court hearing on the dissolution of parliament still pending, leaders from both parties are trying to develop a shared understanding. The meeting included discussions on recent political developments, upcoming elections, and parliamentary issues.
