Odisha Ensures No Shortage of Fuel and LPG Amidst Global Tensions

Bhubaneswar, March 26: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi directed all state officials on Thursday to take strict action against traders exploiting the ongoing conflicts in the Gulf region. These traders are creating an artificial shortage of cooking gas and essential goods in Odisha.

The directives were issued during a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Majhi at the Lok Seva Bhawan. The meeting aimed to review the government’s measures to address the issues arising from the artificial scarcity of various goods due to the current situation in West Asia.

During the review, officials reported that petroleum products, gas, and other essential items are sufficiently available in the state.

Chairing the meeting, Chief Minister Majhi instructed officials to remain vigilant against any attempts to create an artificial shortage of cooking gas or other necessities. He urged them to conduct raids across the state and take stringent action against dishonest traders involved in black marketing. The Chief Minister also emphasized the importance of maintaining an adequate stock of fertilizers for the Rabi crop season.

He recommended that the government undertake extensive public awareness campaigns to ensure that citizens do not panic over the situation. It is noteworthy that India relies on various Gulf countries for petroleum products and liquefied natural gas (LNG).

Concerns have arisen regarding the potential impact of the ongoing situation in West Asia on the supply of petrol and LPG. The Chief Minister convened the high-level meeting to review the availability and distribution of these essential items in the state.

Chief Secretary Anu Garg, who participated in the review meeting, provided a detailed account of the steps taken by the state government to address the situation. The discussion focused on ensuring the uninterrupted supply of petrol, cooking gas, and fertilizers.
