Odishas CM Mohan Chandra Majhi conducts aerial survey of flood-hit regions, prioritizing rescue and relief operations for affected residents.

Bhubaneswar, October 30 (Daily Kiran) : Chief Minister Mohan Chandra Majhi of Odisha conducted an aerial survey on Friday over the flood-affected areas in Ganjam and Gajapati districts. The assessment aimed to evaluate the flood situation and oversee ongoing rescue and relief efforts.

Heavy rainfall caused by Cyclone Arnab has led to significant flooding in several villages, stranding thousands of residents. Many regions in southern Odisha have also experienced landslides and damage to infrastructure.

The impact has been severe, with 42,564 people affected in Ganjam, followed by 30,000 in Gajapati and 12,000 in Kandhamal. Authorities have evacuated residents from high-risk and low-lying areas to safer locations and set up relief camps for those displaced by the floods.

In a statement shared on his social media account, Majhi emphasized, “Ensuring the safety of lives and property during this disaster is my top priority.” He was accompanied by Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari during the aerial survey.

Majhi reassured the public, stating, “The entire administration is working around the clock to ensure that food, drinking water, and essential health services reach the affected individuals without interruption. I have instructed officials to expedite relief and rescue operations.” He also called for vigilance in repairing damaged roads, restoring power supply, and addressing health issues that may arise post-flood.

The Chief Minister urged residents to remain strong during this challenging time. “Your government stands firmly with you. Please stay safe, follow the directions of local authorities and rescue teams, and help one another. Together, we will overcome this crisis swiftly,” he said.
