The Miami Heat have faced challenges this season, but Norman Powell’s performance stands out in the 2025-26 campaign. He is averaging 24.4 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game while maintaining an impressive three-point shooting percentage of 42.1%.
Powell has emerged as coach Erik Spoelstra’s most dependable offensive player, especially with Tyler Herro sidelined by injuries. Although Bam Adebayo remains a solid contributor, his average of 17.3 points per game is the lowest since the 2019-20 season.
Despite a strong start, the Heat currently hold a 20-16 record, placing them mid-table in the Eastern Conference, tied with the Orlando Magic. The team has struggled to sustain winning streaks, partly because opponents have adapted to their playing style over the season.
Early in the season, Miami adopted a fast-paced approach that benefited players like Jaime Jaquez Jr. and Powell, both thriving in transition. Powell, known for his ability to run the floor since his time with the Toronto Raptors, has evolved into a versatile three-level scorer and one of the Heat’s key players.
Powell is confident he deserves an All-Star selection this season, building on last year’s campaign. “I definitely have made the case. Last year, I didn’t focus on whether I would make it or not. I think I deserve to make it. My peers around the league, after games, are telling me I am an All-Star. Hopefully it happens for me this year, but for me, the goal is to go out there and win,” he said following Miami’s win against the Pelicans.
In that game, Powell showcased his All-Star calibre by scoring 34 points and shooting 9-for-12 from beyond the arc, highlighting his ability to ignite and lead the team to victory.
While the Heat boast several talented players, Powell’s consistent performance makes him hard to overlook this season. His focus remains on helping Miami win, with an All-Star nod seen as a welcomed bonus.
