Patna, April 14: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar dissolved his cabinet on Tuesday, marking the end of an era in the state’s politics.
After nearly two decades in power, Kumar is preparing to step back from state politics to focus on national responsibilities.
Earlier in the day, he chaired his final cabinet meeting at his secretariat. The meeting was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, Vijay Kumar Sinha, and senior officials from various departments.
During the meeting, Kumar formally announced his resignation to his colleagues. The atmosphere turned emotional as ministers reminisced about their long political journey under his leadership.
In a rare personal touch, Kumar engaged in heartfelt conversations with the ministers, who expressed their gratitude and feelings towards him. He reassured them that although he is heading to Delhi, he will continue to keep an eye on Bihar’s development. “This is a very emotional moment. I am going to Delhi, but I will monitor everything from there,” he stated.
Following the meeting, a photo session took place at the secretariat, symbolizing the final moments of his tenure as he posed with cabinet colleagues and senior officials.
Kumar will soon submit his resignation to the Governor, marking the formal end of his term and initiating the process for forming a new government in the state.
After taking the oath as a member of the Rajya Sabha, he is expected to play an active role in national politics. While he is stepping down, his influence on Bihar’s political landscape is anticipated to remain significant.
This transition is not just a change in leadership; it is seen as a pivotal moment in Bihar’s political landscape, where one chapter closes and another begins.
