Mumbai, April 22: The Maharashtra BJP launched a fierce attack on Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge after he referred to Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a ‘terrorist.’ Senior leaders from the state condemned Kharge’s statement as ‘cheap,’ ‘deplorable,’ and indicative of ‘mental bankruptcy.’
BJP MLA R. Tamil Selvan stated, “How can someone who has eradicated terrorists and defended India be called a terrorist? Kharge’s mind seems to have stopped functioning. I find this very upsetting and completely oppose it.”
Selvan further added, “Kharge told the press that Muslim brothers should attack wherever they see the RSS, Sangh Parivar, or BJP while going to the mosque for prayers. This is vote bank politics. It is wrong to shout at the Prime Minister. Even if he apologizes, he should not be let off the hook. At 83, if his mind is half gone, he should stay home instead of shouting on the streets. Congress is number one in dividing the country.”
Cabinet Minister Girish Mahajan remarked, “Kharge is a senior politician, but the way he speaks about the Prime Minister makes me think he is unwell and needs treatment.”
Minister Pankaja Munde described the statement as ‘very cheap,’ asserting, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi holds a constitutional position and has led the country three times. Such remarks about him are completely condemnable.”
BJP MLC Chitra Kishor Wagh questioned, “Who is the real terrorist? Everyone knows under whose tenure terrorism increased. Prime Minister Modi is working for the entire nation and is the most beloved leader among the people.”
Mayor Ritu Tawde commented on the context of the Women’s Reservation Bill, saying, “Kharge has now realized his party’s mistake. Rejecting the Nari Shakti Vandan Bill was a significant error for Congress. Now he will understand how serious this mistake was.”
Maharashtra BJP leaders unanimously demanded strict action against Kharge’s statement, alleging that Congress is resorting to inflammatory remarks due to a lack of issues to address.
