Nishant Kumar Pays Tribute to Ram Manohar Lohia, Reflects on His Fathers Ideals

Patna, March 23: Nishant Kumar, son of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and a leader of the Janata Dal (United), paid homage to Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia on his birth anniversary at the party office on Monday.

Speaking to the media in Patna, Nishant Kumar recalled how his father was deeply influenced by Lohia’s speech at Gandhi Maidan. He noted that this impactful moment led his father to regard Lohia as a guiding figure and commit to following his principles.

Nishant emphasized that his father has adhered to Lohia’s teachings throughout his life. These include values such as truth, non-violence, the elimination of discrimination based on caste and color, and the promotion of women’s equality. He highlighted that his father has provided reservations for women and encouraged their participation in the workforce, showcasing a genuine commitment to gender equality.

He stated, “My father considers Lohia as his guru and has remained connected to his ideology. The speech at Gandhi Maidan significantly influenced him, and since then, he has been a kind of disciple of Lohia.”

Reflecting on Nitish Kumar’s 20-year tenure, Nishant pointed out that prior governments in Bihar were marked by looting and crime. However, under his father’s leadership, riots and violence were curtailed, and development initiatives were prioritized, ensuring progress for all communities.

Nishant Kumar has recently joined the JD(U) as his father announced plans to step away from state politics to take a seat in the Rajya Sabha. He has won a recent election to the Rajya Sabha.

Meanwhile, discussions are intensifying regarding who will take over the leadership of Bihar after Nitish Kumar. Nishant Kumar is among the prominent names being considered for this role.
