Mumbai, 4 January – Actor Nikitin Dheer fondly recalled his late father Pankaj Dheer, who is remembered for his iconic role as Karna in the television series ‘Mahabharat’. Though Pankaj Dheer is no longer with us, his portrayal of Karna has left an everlasting impression.
Nikitin shared a heartfelt memory from a film project they worked on together but could not complete. On his Instagram account, he posted a photo showing himself and his father sitting inside a vanity van, both smiling. In the picture, Pankaj Dheer is seen clicking a photograph of them through a mirror, capturing a tender moment between father and son.
In the caption, Nikitin wrote, “Some stories remain unfinished but moments do not. This is me and my father sitting together in a vanity van for a film we were working on but could not finish. I had some wonderful moments working with him as an actor. Grateful it happened.”
Whenever Nikitin misses his father, he shares memories on social media. Earlier, he had written a long post expressing his grief after Pankaj Dheer’s passing. He mentioned how the family felt broken but gained a deeper understanding of the respect and love his father earned during his lifetime.
He had written, “After some days passed and seeing the continuous love he receives, I realised this is life. It is not the accumulation of material things, but love, blessings, respect, and honour – these are intangible. My father has taken these with him to the hereafter. Today, I am prouder than ever to be his son. He was an ideal father, the kind any boy would wish for. He taught me resilience, character, loyalty, dedication, and determination.”
Pankaj Dheer passed away on 15 October 2025 due to cancer. He had once fought cancer and resumed life, but the illness returned and he was hospitalised for a long time before his death.
