Mumbai, September 22 (Daily Kiran) : Jamie Dimon, the CEO of JP Morgan Chase, has announced that he anticipates India’s economy could triple in size over the next decade. Speaking in Mumbai, he emphasized the bank’s commitment to expanding its operations in the country.
According to reports, Dimon expressed expectations for significant growth in JP Morgan’s coverage and operations in India. The bank plans to include 400 companies in its research, while aiming to cover 2,000 firms overall.
As reported by CNBC-TV18, Dimon revealed that JP Morgan intends to collaborate closely with the Indian government and local corporations. He highlighted the rapid expansion of the bank’s operations in India since his first visit in 2005.
At that time, JP Morgan employed just 6,000 people in India. Today, the bank has increased its workforce to 60,000 professionals across various technical fields and investment banking.
Currently, JP Morgan covers approximately 200 Indian companies through its research operations. The investment bank also partners with multinational corporations and Indian firms looking to expand their businesses internationally.
Dimon urged for the finalization of trade agreements between New Delhi and Washington, stressing the importance of maintaining consistency in trade and investment regulations. “I would like to see this completed,” he stated, encouraging both governments to “work together to achieve this.”
He also addressed the global economy’s challenges, including persistent inflation, rising government debt, geopolitical tensions, and increasing capital demands. Dimon predicted that interest rates and bond yields could remain elevated for an extended period.
He noted that the demand for capital could rise due to infrastructure related to artificial intelligence and remilitarization, suggesting that the potential for growth in these areas is greater than commonly perceived. Dimon stated that increased investments in AI could ultimately boost productivity and exert deflationary pressure. He projected that spending in the hyperscaler ecosystem could reach nearly $1 trillion next year, up from approximately $700 billion this year.
