Ahmedabad, March 8: New Zealand has won the toss and elected to bowl in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2026 final match at the Narendra Modi Stadium. The Indian team has made no changes to its playing eleven, while New Zealand has introduced one alteration. Jacob Duffy replaces Cole McConchie in the Kiwi lineup.
After winning the toss, New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner stated, “We are going to bowl first. We will try to restrict them to a score that is achievable. This is a fantastic opportunity, and the boys will gain confidence from it. This is the biggest stage. Duffy is playing in place of McConchie.”
Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav expressed his satisfaction with batting first, saying, “We are happy to bat first as we have been performing well. Scoring runs in the semifinals or finals is always good. This is a new World Cup, and we are excited for it. We hope to perform well against them. There are no changes in our team.”
India aims to secure its third T20 World Cup title, while New Zealand seeks to end its title drought. India won the T20 World Cup in 2007 and again in 2024. Meanwhile, New Zealand reached the finals in 2021 but faced defeat against Australia.
