New Delhi, March 28: The New Zealand cricket team is set to tour Bangladesh in April. During this tour, the Kiwis will compete in a series consisting of three One Day Internationals (ODIs) and three T20 matches. Due to participation in the IPL and the Pakistan Super League (PSL), several key players from New Zealand may miss this series.
New Zealand may send its B team for the Bangladesh tour. The team is scheduled to arrive in Dhaka on April 13. The ODI series will kick off on April 17, with the second match taking place on April 20. The first two ODIs will be hosted at the Sher-e-Bangla Cricket Stadium in Dhaka, while the third match will be held in Chattogram on April 23.
Currently, there is a high likelihood of adverse weather conditions in Dhaka and Chattogram. New Zealand last played an ODI series in Bangladesh in 2023, winning the three-match series 2-0, with one match being abandoned due to rain. Following the ODIs, both teams will clash in the shortest format of the game.
The T20 series will commence on April 27, with the second match scheduled for April 29. Chattogram will host the first two T20 matches, while the final match will take place in Dhaka on May 2. The last bilateral T20 series between Bangladesh and New Zealand was held in 2021, which Bangladesh won 3-2.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board has also issued partial No Objection Certificates (NOCs) to six Bangladeshi players participating in the PSL this season. Mustafizur Rahman, Shoriful Islam, Nahid Rana, Tanzid Hasan, Rishad Hossain, and Parvez Hossain Imon will not be able to join the team’s training camp in Dhaka. However, all these players are expected to feature in the matches against New Zealand.
